Human Nature collaborated with CT Consultants to create a unique destination playground for all ages and abilities. The playground was inspired by a stone tower , the historic context of the old fort, and integration with the nearby amphitheater, shelter and restroom. A large mound and tower welcomes children to the playground. The mound and tower include four slides, multiple climbing activities, and places for children to gather and socialize. A wide variety of climbing, balancing, and spinning activities surround the tower. There are also several types of swings and a zip line for vestibular movement, which is important for the spatial and motor development of children of all abilities. At the back of the playground, a paved, accessible walkway enables kids to climb a steep hill to play musical instruments and experience a unique globe climber at the top. A long roller slide enables kids to have fun descending the steep hillside. They can then climb back up the hill using steps, logs, or “cannonballs” lodged in the hill.
