Human Nature collaborated with ME Companies and the City of Cincinnati’s Architecture and Urban Design Department in implementing a trail connection to the Lunken Trail Loop of the Ohio River Trail and a half-mile trail extension to Carrel Street. The plan includes native and low maintenance plantings along the length of the trail, and trailheads with amenities at the Lunken connection and the Carrel Street extension terminus. A trailhead was designed at the Lunken Airport parking lot with trail amenities including site furnishings, wayfinding, planters and airplane-interpretive stained and scored concrete. The Carrel Street terminus incorporates the unique reuse and preservation of a rail-to-truck transfer station as a shelter with site amenities and interpretive elements, including an art wall and interpretive pavement.
