Licking River Greenway Trails
CLIENT: Vision 2015
LOCATION: Northern Kentucky
SCOPE: Master Plan
STATUS: Completed 2008
Human Nature collaborated with Woolpert to develop a greenway master plan for the Licking River. The plan illustrates the potential routing, character and enhancement opportunities of the corridor, and establishes a vision of a continuous corridor of riparian habitat with bicycle and pedestrian trails that link the river to the adjoining communities. These “green” connections link parks, schools and other common facilities to the river along existing streets and open spaces along approximately five miles of urban river corridor. The planning process included extensive public input through stakeholder, steering committee, and public meetings. Guided by this public input, the design team went through inventory, opportunity and constraints analyses and alternative exploration, then developed a Preliminary Master Plan based on the preferred alignments. The final master plan is part of Vision 2015, a 10-year strategic plan for Northern Kentucky.
