Great Miami River Blueway & Shared Use Trail

CLIENT: Great Parks of Hamilton County

LOCATION: Cincinnati, OH

SCOPE: Master Plan & Site Design

Human Nature collaborated with Kimley-Horn, Rasor, and Great Parks of Hamilton County staff on the development of a master plan for the West Region Blueway & Trail System, an initiative that will expand opportunities for water and land-based adventure in western Hamilton County and enable residents and visitors to bike, hike, walk, paddle and learn along 36 miles of river corridor. The West Region Blueway & Trail System will extend the Great Miami Riverway through western Hamilton County and 4 Great Parks to connect with land and water trails along the Ohio River. Project goals include identifying strategies for strengthening and expanding western Hamilton County’s blueway trail, developing a master plan for the for the shared-use trail, identifying and designing several canoe/kayak access points along the Great Miami and Whitewater rivers, and identifying opportunities to weave water and land trails together to strengthen recreational experiences in the region.
