Human Nature collaborated with BHDP Architecture, as part of a multidisciplinary design team, to envision and create a more meaningful visual and pedestrian connection between Cincinnati’s Fountain Square and a new lobby addition to Fifth Third Bank’s corporate headquarters, which defines the eastern edge of the Square. The modifications to Fountain Square included the removal or reconfiguration of several raised planters and seatwalls to help improved views to the new building entry and improve the ADA access to it. Due to the existing parking garage beneath the Square, the project involved many technical challenges that the final design elegantly and effectively addressed via strategic wall placement, soil depths, and grading refinements. In addition to the new seatwalls/planters, the design features a new permanent performance stage that was integrated with and enhanced by the beautifully landscaped raised beds.
