Human Nature collaborated with BWSC and Chambers Architects to renovate and improve Hills & Dales Park in Dayton, Ohio. The original design, inspired by the Adirondack style, was completed in 1916 by the firm of Frederick Law Olmsted. This renovation project preserved and upgraded three of the park’s historic camps. Design highlights include restoration of the pond at Dogwood Camp, nature-based playgrounds at White Oak Camp, extensive use of native plants, and a wetlands boardwalk trail. All three camps include improvements to parking lots, expansion of the pedestrian trail system, integration of stormwater best management practices (BMPs), and preservation of desirable native trees and shrubs.
