Washington Park

project description

Human Nature collaborated with a multidisciplinary team to develop a new master plan and construction documents for Washington Park, one of Cincinnati’s oldest public parks located in a rapidly redeveloping historic neighborhood. The design team worked with the client team, local stakeholders, and community participants to craft a park vision that acknowledges the historic surroundings, while addressing the complex needs and values of a diverse and active community. The park renovation added 2 acres to the existing 6 acres, preserved as many of the existing large trees as possible and included several new improvements, including a 400-space parking garage, an oval lawn for civic events and concerts, a dog park, gardens, a concessions stand, an interactive fountain, a custom play environment, sustainable design strategies, and park gateways.
