Mill Creek Greenway Trail

project description

Human Nature worked with Kolar Design and ME Companies to complete multiple phases of the Mill Creek Greenway Trail.  As part of the Mill Creek Restoration Project (MCRP), the greenway trail master plan calls for a shared-use trail to connect greenspaces from the Hamilton County Fairgrounds to the Ohio River and then East to the Cincinnati Riverfront Park where it will join the Ohio River Trail and other regional and state bike systems. The approximately 13.5 mile route follows along the Mill Creek, once considered the most endangered urban stream in North America, and offers a safe, off-road alternative for transportation, recreation and exercise. The trail phases will coincide with stream restoration efforts including habitat restoration, stream bank stabilization, stormwater management, education and training. In addition to the trail work, Human Nature worked with artist, Jackie Brookner, to create Laughing Brook, an interpretive landscape that demonstrates sustainable stormwater management practices.
